Paul E. Heltzel Commissioner Paul E. Heltzel and his wife, Rosemary, a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Warren, Ohio, have four children. Ryan is a graduate of Notre Dame and resides in Seattle, Washington. Michael Heltzel, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and is a Lieutenant in the Navy and a member of Seal Team 3, San Diego, California. Robert Heltzel is a junior at Hiram College located in Hiram, Ohio. Their youngest son Paul is a freshman at John Carroll University, University Hts, Ohio. EDUCATION Mr. Heltzel attended St. Stephen's School in Niles, Ohio for his primary education. He graduated with honors from Gilmour Academy Gates Mills, Ohio. Mr. Heltzel received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Management with honors from John Carroll University. His post-graduate education includes the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he earned an MBA degree in Finance. Mr. Heltzel received his Juris Doctor Degree from the School of Law, University of Notre Dame. WORK EXPERIENCE & EMPLOYMENT HISTORY After graduating from college, Mr. Heltzel worked as a Community Organization Worker with Vista Volunteers. After that, he worked as a Credit Analyst in the commercial loan department of the First National Bank of Miami, Miami, Florida. After receiving his MBA, Mr. Heltzel worked in the Ford Division Controller's Office of the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, followed by a position as a Financial Consultant for Booz Allen and Hamilton at it's Cleveland, Ohio office. He then served as director, Distributor and International Sales for the American Motors Corporation (Wheel Horse Products Company) located in South Bend, Indiana. After obtaining his law degree, Mr. Heltzel was employed as a Staff Attorney at Nadler and Nadler C. LPA specializing in Corporate/Business and Bankruptcy Law. He was hired by Prosecutor Dennis Watkins in 1984 as Chief Counsel of the Civil Division for the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office. He has provided legal counsel for a multitude of county entities including the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners, the Planning Commission, various Township Trustees, the County Treasurer, Auditor, Clerk of Courts, Sheriff's Department, Recorder, the Common Pleas Court, the Eleventh District Court of Appeals, the Trumbull County Law Library, Fairhaven School, and Hillside Hospital. During his tenure in the Prosecutor's Office, Mr. Heltzel was also appointed by Ohio Attorney General, Anthony Celebrezze, as Special Counsel, Ohio Attorney General. He now practices law at the law firm of Delbene, LaPolla and Thomas, in an Of Counsel capacity in Warren, Ohio. His General Practice of Law includes, New Business Formation, Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions, Secured Transactions, Wills, Trusts, and Estates, Business Litigation, and Insurance Law. Mr. Heltzel's political and leadership experience include the Board of Directors, Warren General Hospital, Chairman of the Finance Committee for St. Stephen Church, and Chairman of the St. Stephen Values and Vision Campaign (Youngstown Diocese High School Endowment Fund Drive). Mr. Heltzel's past services in Trumbull County include: Chairman of the Trumbull County Bar Association Computer Committee, Trumbull County Bar Grievance Committee, former Treasurer for the Trumbull County Democratic Party, Trumbull County Precinct Committeeman and former Executive Committee Member.
